Debate around the UK Film Council's proposals for a new funding stream for experimental and innovative film making (see www.ukfilmcouncil.org.uk/consultation2009) reached the airwaves on Tuesday 8 December.

Radio 3 presenter Philip Dodd discussed the issues with our own Lizzie Francke (Senior Executive in the Development Fund) and film critic Nigel Floyd, debating whether visual artists can bring new ways of seeing and representing the world to film-making, in light of Turner Prize shortlisted artists such as Sam Taylor-Wood and Steve McQueen now having their names in the credits on the big screen.
